Rocket Boy Homer Hickam

The Von Braun Astronomical Society hosted its annual Astronomy Day at the observatory and planetarium on Monte Sano all day Saturday. I arrived at dusk and attended a show for kids about the mythology of constellations. Following the show, local author Homer Hickam spoke and read from his most popular book, Rocket Boys: A Memoir (later turned into the movie October Sky). He's a really good storyteller, and I enjoyed listening to him speak about his childhood. He read two passages, one describing his first rocket launch attempt after the Sputnik launch, and the other describing his last rocket launch as a kid after winning a first prize award. I would very much like to read Rocket Boys now.
