GRB 050904
Swift is back to its regular a-few-a-week burst detection, which is nice because it keeps me busy. I prefer a many detections rather than periods of silence.
I was reading today about GRB 050904, the most distant GRB ever observed, at a redshift of z = 6.29. For readers unfamiliar with what that means, a redshift value of that high means that this burst occurred a long time ago, when the Universe was very young. By seeing this burst, we are looking far into our Universe's past, like a time capsule. Observing early events can help us understand how our Universe was formed.
