End of Semester / GBM

The semester is over, and I'm taking a long break. Final exams took precedence, I did manage to finish the first round of timing analysis of all Swift GRBs with decent windowed timing data thus far before I left. I had also been working on the best way to present information about a single GRB in a document, including imaging, light curves, energy spectra, power spectra, and model fitting. All that is going well!

The day before I left, I had a long conversation with someone about GBM, the GLAST Burst Monitor that will go on Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope to be launched in October next year. It really amazes me the amount of work that goes into a space mission from its conception to launch and throughout its lifetime. From the individual parts to the mission planning to the international collaborations, a lot of people work hard for years to put it all together. Personally, I love seeing how all the little details tie into the bigger picture.
