Case Study / Filtering Program / SGR Modeling

This week has been utter insanity trying to get any research done with the ending of the NASA Academy summer program (which I am a staff member of). I had very little time to dedicate this week to research, which is why I’m at NSSTC at 7:00 PM on a Saturday night.

I returned to the two case study GRBs I’m considering, 060105 and 060218, and downloaded all the latest observations. I also processed that data, which took quite a while for 060218 especially.

I also returned to the filtering program I’ve been working on. I successfully added the options to filter by region using an inputted “radius” (half x-range from peak out, really) in arcseconds or by selecting a region with a cursor.

As for the SGR, I haven’t quite figured out how to model the lower-count spectra without grouping them, nor have I gone back through the wt observations to worry about the burst issue. Those will be questions for next week.
