IDL Memory Problem / Swift Pulsar Observations / SGR 1900+14

The memory issue in IDL still hasn’t been resolved despite dedicating hours to it on Monday. When I attempt to create a large array with minimum time resolution and maximum number of bins (0.0017675 seconds), it tells me it’s unable to allocate memory to make an array. I can get this to work using data from 4U0142+614 but not 060218. We can’t seem to get it working on mine or Sandy’s computer. It might be a limitation or a setting in IDL. I’m not going to worry about it anymore for now.

Yesterday I began sorting through the Swift observation requests to find what other pulsars Swift has observed. Trying to identify certain objects, I got a little sidetracked learning about each one. There’s so much I have yet to learn about various cosmological objects. I enjoy discussing these topics for hours on end with people who don’t look at me weird because I used the word “astronomical”.

Right now I’m focusing on Swift’s observations of SRG 1900+14. I want to read more about magnetars so I can understand what they are, where they come from, and what I should be looking for.
